SCANDIA GOOD NEIGHBOR AWARD PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, respecting and caring for others is a hallmark of the American character,
and central to how we as a community live; and
WHEREAS, respect and care for and from neighbors creates a more sustainable,
resilient community and makes Scandia a great place to live and be; and
WHEREAS, Scandia throughout its history has been the beneficiary of being a
community of Good Neighbors; and
WHEREAS, being a Good Neighbor demonstrates commitment, dedication, and caring
for the community; and
WHEREAS, being a Good Neighbor increases the well-being of individuals and of the
community in which they live; and
WHEREAS, The Scandia Marine Lions Club has demonstrated the qualities of being a
Good Neighbor and has been nominated to receive this Award; and
WHEREAS, The Scandia Marine Lions Club, with its present count of 157 members
making it the largest Lions Club in Minnesota, has for the past 35 years performed good
works in support of the residents of the Scandia/Marine area community, this past year
contributing over 2,000 volunteer hours and giving over $78,000 in donations to
individuals in need, educational scholarships and other causes to better our city and our
world.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Scandia presents the Scandia Good
Neighbor Award to The Scandia Marine Lions Club, in recognition and appreciation.
