Re: Ball Field Use Recap
Youth athletics organizations (Forest Lake Community Education and Forest Lake Area Athletic
Association) work together to schedule and coordinate their use of the South Ball Field (on
Olinda Trail) and the T -Ball Field (on Oakhill Road) during the youth season (from approximately
April 1 to July 4 of each year). Reservations of these fields are taken by the City of Scandia. This
past year, Community Education reserved the South Ball Field for baseball games and FLAAA
reserved the T -Ball Field for mod pitch softball games from April 17 to June 29 (Monday
through Thursday).
Staff requested feedback from this past year's use of these fields. The following information
was provided:
South Ball Field
Forty teams with a total of over 500 players were registered to play baseball through
Community Education. Approximately seven teams came from Scandia with a total of 98
players. The players were in grades from kindergarten to sixth grade. There were also
practices held on this field. There were countless spectators.
T -Rall Fipid
There were 125 players grades kindergarten through sixth grade that registered to play mod
pitch softball. Practices were also held on this field. As well, there were countless spectators.
Suggestions for improvements included a larger infield at the T -ball Field and adding some ag
lime at the South Ball Field.
