Re: Request to Waive Fireworks Permit Application Fee
Background:
Corey Roberts, organizer of the Scanley Cup adult hockey tournament held during Vinterfest, has
also organized a fireworks display for the past three years. There is a $100 fee for a fireworks
permit application. Last year, the City Council approved the Parks and Recreation Committee’s
recommendation to waive the fee as a show of appreciation for Roberts’ efforts. City Attorney
Pratt noted that the non-profit status of the organizer can be considered as a basis for waiving
the fee.
Issue:
Should the City Council approve waiving the fireworks permit application fee of $100?
Proposal Details:
The Parks and Recreation Committee is recommending the fireworks permit application fee be
waived.
Options:
1) Approve waiving the fee.
2) Do not approve waiving the fee.
3) Approve reducing the fee.
Recommendation:
Option 1
