7.a 2 Request to Waive Fireworks Permit Application Fee Staff Report Date of Meeting: December 19, 2017 To: City Council From: Judi Negus, Office Assistant Re: Request to Waive Fireworks Permit Application Fee Background: Corey Roberts, organizer of the Scanley Cup adult hockey tournament held during Vinterfest, has also organized a fireworks display for the past three years. There is a $100 fee for a fireworks permit application. Last year, the City Council approved the Parks and Recreation Committee’s recommendation to waive the fee as a show of appreciation for Roberts’ efforts. City Attorney Pratt noted that the non-profit status of the organizer can be considered as a basis for waiving the fee. Issue: Should the City Council approve waiving the fireworks permit application fee of $100? Proposal Details: The Parks and Recreation Committee is recommending the fireworks permit application fee be waived.
