Discussion on updates to the fee scheduleSCANDIA Staff Report Date of Meeting: January 3, 2018 To: City Council From: Neil Soltis, Administrator Re: Fee Schedule Background: Currently the fees charged by the City are included in multiple ordinance, resolutions, and policies. Additionally, staff can find no action taken by the Council for certain fees. Two attachments are provided for discussion. The first shows the current fees, the basis for those fees, and any proposed changes in the fees. The second shows the fees charged by neighboring communities. In most Cities there is a single ordinance that includes all fees charged. Also included in the fees are proposed changes to the escrow deposits for Planning and Zoning applications. These adjustments are being made to reflect the actual costs that have been incurred for similar application over the past few years. Currently in a significant number of applications, the City's costs exceed the deposit which results in the City billing for the additional fees after the costs have been paid. Adjusting the fees will also provide the applicant with a better estimate of the costs that will ultimately be incurred. Depending on the direction of the Council, the fee schedule would be incorporated into an ordinance for consideration at a later meeting.
