Re: Vinterfest-Food and Beverage Vendor
Background:
At our October 6, 2014 meeting, Bildeaux informed Scot Taylor of Meister’s Bar and Grill
planned to attend our November 3 meeting for discussion to provide food and/or beverages
during Vinterfest 2015. Negus suggested inviting Chiko’s Bar and Grill and the Scandia
Creamery; however, they did not attend the November 3, 2014 meeting. Written proposals
from all three businesses were requested with a deadline date of noon on November 19, 2014
for submission. The only proposal received was from Meister’s Bar and Grill.
Issue:
Should food and/or beverages be served during Vinterfest 2015 ? If so, who should the Parks
and Recreation Committee recommend serve the food and/or beverages?
Proposal Details
Scot Taylor of Meister’s Bar and Grill is proposing to sell alcohol and beer on Saturday, February
7, 2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Sunday, February 8, 2015. Taylor is considering selling burgers,
brats, hot dogs, and cheese curds. If food is sold, there would be two servers provided. The full
proposal is included in the meeting documentation.
Taylor’s proposal is based on two conditions: 1) The Parks and Recreation Committee p osts
signs that prohibit alcohol from being brought in or bought on the property except for Meister’s
Bar and Grill, and 2) The City Council will attempt to come up with a fair solution to reward
loyalty to establishments who have helped promote Vinterfest.
Fiscal Impact:
Taylor is proposing to donate half of all profits to Lilleskogen park.
Options:
1. Recommend Taylor provides food and/or beverages during Vinterfest on February 7,
2015 from 9 a.m. to 1 a.m. on February 8, 2015.
2. Recommend Taylor provides food and/or beverages during Vinterfest d uring a different
date or dates and for different time periods.
3. Do not recommend Taylor provide food and/or beverages during Vinterfest.
Recommendation:
Option 2. Staff is recommending Taylor provides food and/or beverages from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
on Saturday, February 7, 2015.
