6.b) Staff Report-Vinterfest-Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest STAFF REPORT Date of Meeting: December 1, 2014 To: Parks and Recreation Committee From: Judi Negus, Office Assistant Re: Vinterfest-Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest Background: Lisa Pothen stopped by the City offices to complete a Spec ial Event Permit Application for the Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest 2015. Pothen inquired if the ice fishing contest could be included in the promoted Vinterfest 2015 events. Pothen was informed to contact Negus to request to be on the December 1, 2015 meeting agenda. To date, Pothen has not contacted Negus. Issue: Should the Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest be included in our promotional materials as a Vinterfest 2015 event? Proposal Details The permit application shows the ice fishing contest to be held on Goose Lake on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (This may be an error. It is most likely to be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015.) The set-up start time is noon and the dismantle time is 5 p.m. There is a $10 registration fee per fishing child with funds going to Pack 173. Fiscal Impact: None as proposed. Options: 1. Recommend Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest be included as a promoted Vinterfest 2015 event. 2. Recommend Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest be included as a promoted Vinterfest 2015 event with some proceeds benefiting Vinterfest and/or Lilleskogen park. 3. Do not recommend Pack 173 Ice Fishing Contest be included as a promoted Vinterfest 2015 event. Recommendation: 2. Other Vinterfest events that include a registration fee benefit either Vinterfest or Lilleskogen park, such as the Scanley Cup, the Luminary Loppet, and our proposed vendor for food and/or beverages.
