8.h) Staff Report-Lilleskogen Park Cash DonationsSCANDIA Staff RepoVt Date of Meeting: February 18, 2014 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Re: Lilleskogen ParkNinterfest Donations Background: As previously discussed, the Parks and Recreation Committee wanted to use Vinterfest as an opportunity to bring more awareness to Lilleskogen Park and raise funds for the park's restoration. Businesses that made a cash contribution of $100 or more were considered sponsors at the Loperer ("Runner") level. Funds raised each year for Lilleskogen will be placed in a committed fund for the purpose of restoring/developing the park. Additionally, Bolton and Menk agreed to sponsor the snow sculpture contest this year and provided the funds awarded to the winners. A complete listing of all volunteers and donors of in kind services is listed on the City's website. As with other donations, the Council must formally accept the donations via a resolution. Issue: Should the City accept the donations for Lilleskogen Park? Proposal: The resolution detailing the donations is included in your packet. Fiscal Impact: This year, $535 was donated towards the restoration of Lilleskogen Park. With Bolton and Menk contributing the prize money for the snow sculpture contest, these funds will no longer have to come from the City's budget.
