5.a) Chair ReportMay 2014 PRC Chair Report
We didn’t have any action for the City Council meeting so I didn’t go.
Ironman was extremely different from last year. I don’t know how many people we had,
but it was a lot less than last year. We had a few cases of hypothermia. The ambulances
had to haul away a few people for it and other reasons. Many people stayed at the
Community Center for a bus to take them back to the fair grounds. The bus was available
last year for people to use if they didn’t want to finish, but not many people used it. To
get more people on busses, we had them park their bikes at the warming house. The
warming house was locked up and watched over until they came to get their bikes.
We will have to reinvent some of Vinterfest this year. Martin is moving his Designs of
Sweden shop to Stillwater. He played a huge part in our promenade last year. The
promenade ended at his shop last year and he provided many of the prizes.
On a lighter note, we received a grant from the Feds for half of the funds ($200K) to fix
the Log House Landing. The City and Watershed will have to come up with the rest of
the money.
