Re: Lilleskogen Butterfly Garden Update
Background
Janie O’Connor, Karen Schik and Cristina de Sobrino of the Friends of Scandia Parks and Trails
attended the September 8, 2014 Parks and Recreation Committee meeting to discuss updates
in moving forward with the installation of the butterfly garden at Lilleskogen. The Committee
was informed of the need for fill before work could begin on the butterfly garden. The
Committee members agreed the plants for the butterfly garden should be ordered to meet an
upcoming deadline. Since the September 8 meeting, Director of Public Works Kieffer was able
to obtain donated fill and the retaining wall of logs was installed. In addition, there were
volunteer days that were devoted to laying paper and mulch and planting at Lilleskogen.

Proposal Details
O’Connor asked to be included on the agenda to follow up on the October 12, 2014 butterfly
garden event at Lilleskogen and to provide suggestions for moving forward. O’Connor advised
Karen Schik and Cristina de Sobrino will also be in attendance.
