Staff Report-Chair and Vice Chair Staff Report Date of Meeting: February 13, 2018 To: Planning Commission From: Neil Soltis, City Administrator Re: Chair and Vice Chair Appointments Background: Ordinance 91 provides for the Planning Commission to appoint a Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Planning Commission from among the members of the Commission for a 1- year term, subject to approval by the Council. Issue: Who should the Commission recommend for chair and vice chair for the period from February, 2018 through January, 2019? Proposal Details: Dan Squyres was the Chair in 2017-8 and Jan Hogle the Vice Chair. There are no limits on how long a person may serve in those positions. Any member of the Planning Commission would also be eligible for the positions. Fiscal Impact: Compensation for the Chair is $300/quarter. The Vice Chair receives the same $250/quarter as the rest of the commission members. Recommendation: Make a recommendation on Chair and Vice Chair for 2018-19 to the City Council. The recommendation will be considered by the Council at their February 20st meeting.
