I'm sending these along in case you would like to use them for the discussion on Wednesday.
One of the key issues should be who uses the parks and where the parks should be located. The proposed future land use
map is from a Planning Commission discussion on the Comprehensive Plan and it shows the 2040 land use map as
proposed. Note that the changes from the previous plan in terms of land use are increases in the size of the village
neighborhood districts and increased housing density within those areas. Also attached is an exhibit used for discussion
regarding where should we be looking for adding parks to meet the needs of the expected growth of roughly 1,000
residents by 2040. One thing that jumps out at me is the lack of parks in the area west of Big Marine Lake where we have
the highest housing density, particularly since the plan as drafted would designate that area village neighborhood
district. This is predicated on an eventual connection to the Met Council sewer system that would allow for smaller lot
sizes.
