Re: Selection of Chair and Vice Chair for March, 2018 through February, 2019
Background:
Ordinance 91 provides that the Chairperson and Vice Chairperson of the Parks and Recreation
Committee are appointed by the Commission from among the members of the Commission, subject
to approval by the Council, for a term of one year. Furthermore, the bylaws of the Parks and
Recreation Committee provide that election of officers will be held at the first meeting of March of
each year.
Due to Committee member resignations, several Chairpersons and Vice Chairpersons were
appointed this past term. Chairpersons appointed in 2017-18 were Ryan Jinks and Terry Gorham.
Vice Chairpersons appointed were Greg Zauner, Terry Gorham and Dustin Hegland.
Issue:
Who should the Parks and Recreation Committee recommend as Chair and Vice Chairperson for the
time period from March, 2018 through February, 2019?
Proposal Details:
Any Committee member would be eligible for the positions.
Fiscal Impact:
None.
Recommendation:
Make a recommendation on Chairperson and Vice Chairperson for 2018-19 to the City Council. The
recommendation will be considered at their March 20 meeting.
