December 2010 Year End Activity Report
Operations and Administration
. There were 16 total calls in December, of that 7 were fire related, 9 were
medical. 1 was a mutual aid structure fire in Lindstrom.
. rD spending ended the year under budget.
. We also received $20,000 in grant funds in 2010.
. We signed a mutual aid agreement with Osceola Fire. This required the signature
of both Governors.
. We updated our mutual aid agreement with Lindstrom Fire to have auto aid for
structure fires.
. Online fire reporting has proved very efficient.
. Have started the process of rewriting our standard operating procedures.
. Three officers are Minnesota certified instructor, with one more in the testing
process.
. One of our new recruits has passed the National Registry for EMT.
2010 Recap:
• We had 225 total calls, of those 158 were medical related; this is an increase of
15% over last year.
• We have attached three different summary reports for your review.
• Purchased new rescue truck.
• Recruited 5 new members.
• Purchased Floating pump & K-12 saw.

Staffinq
Currently there are twenty-six volunteer Fire Fighters of this five are probationary. The
sixth probationary member Aaron Syring has removed himself from the department.

Orqanizational Structure
One Fire Chief, two Assistant Chiefs, three Captains, one Engineer and nineteen
Firefighters.
Traininq and Certifications
Fire Fighters train a minimum of four times a month. Training consists of reviewing
standard operating procedures, simulated fire responses and simulated medical
responses. In addition, some members participate in Washington County's Dive team
training sessions.
Firefighters also attend annual State Certified Firefighter classes focused on specific
specialized training. Examples are auto extrication, pump operator, hazardous material
operations, officer leadership, basic fire behavior, and tactical plans.
Four Fire Fighters are certified at FF1 level and eighteen are certified at FF2 level. Of
the twenty-six firefighters, one is certified Medical First Responders and twenty two are
certified Emergency Medical Technician.
Chief Officers are NIMS / ISO 100, 200, 300, 400, and 700 certified through FEMA. Of
the seven officers three are certified instructors.
ISO Ratinq
The department has achieved an ISOP rating of seven.
Organization Affiliations
The department belongs to Capital City Regional Mutual Aid Association. The mutual aid
association gives us access to thirty-two fire department resources, from work force to
fire apparatus. Chief Jim Finnegan is the Vice President of this organization.

The Fire Chief and the Assistant Chiefs are members and active participants in the
Washington County Fire Chiefs Association. Assistant Chief Mike Hinz is the President
of this organization.
Facilities
The Fire and Rescue Department moved into the current fire station in the fall of 2000.
The building is 11, 400 square feet with a well capable of filling water tankers at a rate of
500 gallons per minute.
