5.h Camp Lakamaga Program Agreement Staff Report Date of Meeting: March 20, 2018 To: City Council From: Judi Negus, Office Assistant Re: Program Agreement with Girl Scouts of MN and WI River Valleys for Summer Recreation Programs Background: Since 2007, the City has partnered with the Girl Scouts of the Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys to offer summer recreation programs at Camp Lakamaga on Big Marine Lake. Last month, Staff met with Pam Wurster of Camp Lakamaga to discuss summer 2018 recreation programs offered through Camp Lakamaga. Issue: Is the attached Program Agreement between the City of Scandia and the Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys for summer recreation programs acceptable? Proposal Details: Camp Lakamaga will continue to offer a full-day “Camp Adventurers, Woods and Water” camp at an increased rate of $200. (The rate last year was $190.) Camp Lakamaga will also continue to offer a half-day “Camp Explorers, 1st Stop-Camp!” program at an increased rate of $110. (The rate last year was $100.) The camps are scheduled for the weeks of July 23 and August 6 at Camp Lakamaga. A copy of the Program Agreement is included with your meeting materials. This is the same agreement format that was used last year with updated dates. It has been signed by the Girl Scouts’ Senior Program Advisor. Fiscal Impact: Program revenues will be shared between the City (20%) and River Valleys (80%) for all programs covered by the agreement. There will be no obligation to either party if programs need to be cancelled due to lack of registrations. Last year, the programs generated $5,350, $1,070 of which the City retained. Options: 1) Approve the Program Agreement with Girl Scouts of MN and WI River Valleys. 2) Amend and then approve the Program Agreement with Girl Scouts of MN and WI River Valleys. 3) Take no action at this time. Recommendation: Option 1.
