9.e) Staff Report-Reconsideration Step IncreaseSCANDIA
Staff Report
Date of Meeting: June 17, 2014
To: City Council
From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator
Re: Reconsideration, Step Increase, Egelkraut
Background:
At the May Council meeting the Council voted 4-1 to not approve a step increase for Maintenance
Worker Mike Egelkraut. Robert's Rules of Order allow for a reconsideration of the vote if a motion
is made by a member having voted on the prevailing side (voted yes to the motion on May 20) moves
to reconsider the vote.
Issue:
Should the City Council reconsider the vote to not approve the step increase for Maintenance Worker
Mike Egelkraut?
Proposal Details:
If a member of the Council wants to reconsider their vote and they voted yes on May 20th they should
make the following motion:
"I move to reconsider the vote to deny the step increase for Maintenance Worker
Egelkraut. "
Any member of the Council may second the motion. If the motion prevails, then the Council could
make another motion in regards to Egelkraut's step increase. See below.

Only if Motion to Reconsider Passes:
As was shared last month, on May 12, 2014 Director of Public Works Kieffer gave Maintenance
Worker Egelkraut his annual review. A review of work completed over the past year as it relates to
Egelkraut's job duties was discussed and goals were established for the coming year.
After reviewing Egelkraut's performance for the entirety of the past year, the Public Works Director
and City Administrator are recommending Egelkraut receive a step increase. His new hourly rate of
pay would be at a Step 10 ($24.16).
Options:
1) Approve the step increase effective June 11, 2014
2) Do not approve the step increase
Recommendation:
Option 1.
