Re: Appointment of Election Judges
Background: Appointments of election judges are made by the City Council no later than 25
days preceding an election. The Council can appoint any individual to serve as an election
judge, with the exception of the following who are not qualified to serve:
o A candidate in that election;
o The husband, wife, parent, child, brother or sister of a candidate;
o The husband, wife, parent, child, brother or sister of another judge in the same
precinct (serving at the same time); or
o A challenger.
Issue: Who should be appointed to serve as Election Judges for the August 12, 2014 Primary
Election and the November 4, 2014 General Election?
Proposal Details: The individuals listed on the attached resolution are recommended for
appointment and have completed the required two-hour training session held on July 8, 2014, or
have completed on-line training, and are qualified to serve as Election Judges. The list will be
used to schedule judges for the primary and general elections, as well as to schedule judges to
observe the required public accuracy tests.
Fiscal Impact: Head Election Judge Mary Hulleman will be compensated at a rate of $11/hour.
Election Judges are compensated at a rate of $9/hour.

3) Do not approve Resolution No. 07-15-14-01
Recommendation: Option 1.
