Re: Park User Permit for Scandia Athletic Association for June 22-24, 2018
Background: Dean Lindgren, representative of the Scandia Athletic Association, has applied for
a Park User Permit to conduct a Fast pitch Softball Tournament at the Wayne Erickson Lighted
Ballfield on June 22-24, 2018.
Proposal Details: Because the event is expected to draw over 100 people, Council approval of
the park user permit is required. The application states that between 100 – 200 players and
spectators are expected. The tournament begins on Friday, June 22nd at 6pm and plans to run
until midnight. Saturday, June 23rd games begin at 8am and run until midnight. Sunday, June
23rd games begin at 8am and conclude no later than 8pm. The Scandia-Marine Lions will be
present with their food truck to serve concessions.
Staff recommends that the following conditions be att ached to approval of the park user
permit:
The event shall be held as described in the application.
All food service shall meet any applicable requirements of the Washington County
Health Department.
Event organizers shall request any utility locates that may be required for the location of
any tents, stakes, or signs.
Event signage must be placed out of the road right-of-ways and be removed at the end
of the event.
Event organizers shall provide trash containers and remove and properly dispose of all
waste during the event.
Options:
1) Approve the Park User Permit with the recommended conditions.
2) Amend the conditions and then approve the permit.
3) Do not approve the Park User Permit.
Recommendation: Option 1.
