5.a)2) 05-06-2010 Special Meeting with the Capital Improvements Committee � .� ` �) �� May 6, 2010 A special joint meeting of the Scandia City Council and Capital Improvements Committee was held on the above date, for the purpose of discussing the pavement management plan and discuss priorities for 2010 road improvements. Mayor Dennis Seefeldt called the meeting to order at 5:35 p.m. The following were present: Council members, Dolores Peterson, Connie Amos, Pete Crum and Mayor Dennis Seefeldt; Capital Improvements Committee Members Chris Ness, Dan Skupien, and Bill Havener; Staff Anne Hurlburt, Jim Finnegan, Colleen Firkus and John Momson; Consulting Engineers Paul Hornby and Ryan Goodman. Council member absent: John Lindell. Committee Members absent: Christine Maefsky, Mike Harnetty and Arden Johnson. Hornby gave an overview of the pavement management plan prepared two years and the crack filling and other maintenance projects completed in 2009. The 2010 budget includes $250,000 for contractual road maintenance, about $200,000 of which would be available for additional crack filling, seal coating, patching or other pavement work. Hurlburt explained that the Council will soon need to make some decisions about how best to spend the 2010 budget. The Capital Improvements Committee will make recommendations on spending for 2011 and beyond, and also revisit the question of if and when to pave remaining gravel roads and on the future financing of road repairs and improvements. Capital Improvements Committee members were polled on possible dates for another meeting; members. Absent members will be polled and a meeting will be scheduled for May 26, June 2 or June 3. The meeting adjourned to a road tour/field trip to review road conditions throughout the city, with several stops along the route.
