5.g) Staff Report-Step Increase JahnkeSCANDIA Staff RepoVt Date of Meeting: September 16, 2014 To: City Council From: Kristina Handt, City Administrator Re: Step Increase, Jahnke Background: Under the City's Compensation policy, a probationary employee may advance to the next pay step after satisfactorily completing six months of employment which meets performance expectations, subject to approval of the City Council. Jahnke began employment with the City of Scandia on March 5, 2014. Issue: Should the City Council approve the step increase for Maintenance Worker Brian Jahnke? Proposal Details: On September 11, 2014 Director of Public Works Kieffer gave Maintenance Worker Jahnke his probation period review. A review of work completed over the past six months as it relates to Jahnke's job duties was discussed and goals were established for the coming year. The Public Works Director and City Administrator are recommending Jahnke receive a step increase. His new hourly rate of pay would be at a Step 2 ($20.22). Options: 1) Approve the step increase effective September 5, 2014 2) Do not approve the step increase Recommendation: Option 1.
