PUBLIC WORKS EQUIPMENT: • 1995 GMC pick up truck has a short somewhere so that the running lights aren't working, defroster has quit and several other mechanical issues. A new Ford F250 regular cab has been ordered but may take until March for delivery. Staff is researching what type of plow will work the best. • Staff has been testing different types of trucks to be used as the main plow/dump truck. They have test drove a Freightliner and International Harvester with each having different features that were important to the driver. Their intention is to get items on the truck that will specifically be beneficial to the type of plowing done within the City. STREETS: • Sign retroreflectivity committee with the League of MN has begun and I was part of this meeting via telephone. It will be the committee's responsibility to set up guidelines for small cities as well as large cities; • Snow plowing started with a storm on Saturday November 13th. The Ford truck was not quite ready as it was being used to haul gravel and rip rap until that time. The belly blade was not installed as it would not be used anyway due to the roadway shoulders not being froze; DAILY ACTIVITIES • Building and Zoning inspections; • Coordinating projects for Public Works; • Review of permits for the excavation into the ROW by Utility companies. • Resident interaction including phone calls, emails and in person regarding zoning,planning and building issues as well as calls regarding street maintenance; • Continuing education to maintain certifications for Wetland Conservation Act, Building Official, Water Operator and other licenses that may be required; • Training for the implementation of the sign reflectivity requirements ongoing; • Safety training per the League of MN Cities Insurance Trust.
