PUBLIC WORKS
EQUIPMENT:
• 1995 GMC pick up truck has a short somewhere so that the running lights aren't working,
defroster has quit and several other mechanical issues. A new Ford F250 regular cab has been
ordered but may take until March for delivery. Staff is researching what type of plow will
work the best.
• Staff has been testing different types of trucks to be used as the main plow/dump truck. They
have test drove a Freightliner and International Harvester with each having different features
that were important to the driver. Their intention is to get items on the truck that will
specifically be beneficial to the type of plowing done within the City.
STREETS:
• Sign retroreflectivity committee with the League of MN has begun and I was part of this
meeting via telephone. It will be the committee's responsibility to set up guidelines for small
cities as well as large cities;
• Snow plowing started with a storm on Saturday November 13th. The Ford truck was not quite
ready as it was being used to haul gravel and rip rap until that time. The belly blade was not
installed as it would not be used anyway due to the roadway shoulders not being froze;
DAILY ACTIVITIES
• Building and Zoning inspections;
• Coordinating projects for Public Works;
• Review of permits for the excavation into the ROW by Utility companies.
• Resident interaction including phone calls, emails and in person regarding zoning,planning
and building issues as well as calls regarding street maintenance;

Official, Water Operator and other licenses that may be required;
• Training for the implementation of the sign reflectivity requirements ongoing;
• Safety training per the League of MN Cities Insurance Trust.
