Public Works Staff Report — June 2018
Roads and Right — of — way
➢ Mowing — completed 1St round — some breakdowns and lack of staff
slowed the effort down
➢ Culverts — another cleaning list being made
➢ Tree removals - 2 at 18126 Layton in preparations for ditching, 1 along
190th that was a hanger — contracted out, 1- along Oak Hill Rd.
➢ Sign repairs — Lakamaga / Newgate intersection —
➢ City signs being repainted / updated — 2/3 done
➢ Tree Pruning- trees hanging over the road — Lofton Ct. — Amur maples
➢ Replacement street signs for 2018 road project arrived
➢ Sweeping — Contractors swept the roads from the spray patching and
Washington Co. swept
➢ Patching — Meadow Ridge trail - gopher or woodchuck tunneling,
205th — craters only, Meadowbrook off Hwy 97 N. side, Kirk Ct.,
➢ Construction — Light repairs for line hit by Co. 52 contractors — They
are paying the electric bill — Scandia staff dug the conduit deeper
➢ Crack sealing — completed — Spray patching still in progress — Fat
Cat Route maintenance completed
➢ MNDOT ROW planting — preparations — tilling, turf removal
➢ Sanitary Sewer basin and cover installed with the Co. Rd. 52 project
— The City supplied the casting
➢ Sediment Pond LHL emptied out — about 7 yards of material
Sewer — Water:
➢ June 18 - sewer samples were taken at Bliss, Test well samples
taken both Bliss and AE
➢ 201 — May monthly DMR completed
➢ Pump readings
➢ Drain fields mowed / weed whipped by controllers
➢ Washington Co. sewer report completed
➢ Uptown - Monthly water meter readings completed
➢ 44 Gopher One call requests
Parks:
➢ Monthly safety checks done on playgrounds
➢ Tennis court — Prep. Work for reconstruction - Reconstruction
occurring as of 6-27-18 — Paving complete
➢ Mowing — PT staff is on board and in training
➢ Lilleskogen - Rain garden — outlet found — lost some plants to
drowning
➢ Monument — Weeded and mowed / weed whipped
➢ Hay Lake — Mowed 4 times
➢ Working with Watershed on the Boundaries for Lilleskogen
➢ Ballfields — dragged each day there is scheduled play
➢ Lighted Field — a lot of effort into getting it prepared for Men's
tournament — new home plate furnished by the Women's Softball
Club - Men's fast pitch tournament was a success and they want to
repeat next year — last week in June
➢ Working on the budget and have included funding for the projects we
agreed should be acted on in 2019
Other:
➢ Fat Cat race preparations: 3.5 tons of asphalt mix, Spray patching of
Mayberry, Maxwill, 197th, Hay Lake pavilion mowing and trimming,
path mowing, LHL gravel -rolling -branch removals, and mowing
dragging exit from William O'Brian,
➢ Training in the new PT personnel
➢ AC units cleaned at City Hall / PW and Fire Dept.
➢ '/2 Plant materials arrived for MNDOT planting project — set up
nursery
➢ Start of shrub pruning at City Hall - weed removals
