Deadline/ Timeline: N/A Background: • Maintenance Supervisor John Morrison has recommended replacement of the city's John Deere tractor/mower, which is used for mowing in the summer and snow removal in the winter. The tractor has approximately 1,380 hours of use. • The equipment replacement schedule calls for replacement after seven years. The 2009 budget for the Equipment Replacement Fund includes $25,000 for this purchase. • Staff obtained two quotes for the purchase; from Greene Implement in Osceola and from Scharber& Sons, Inc. from Rogers. 'The base prices from both dealers are the same, using state contract pricing. The costs of some options are slightly different, as is the trade-in value offered for the existing tractor and attachments. The quote from Greene Implement ($19,034.39) was $127.19 less than the quote from Scharber($19,161.58.) • The replacement equipment has features similar to the current tractor(72"commercial mower deck, 47" snow blower) except that the cab would have air conditioning. The quote does not include replacing the broom attachment. Recommendation: I recommend that the Council authorize purchase of a John Deere tractor/mower from Greene Implement, Osceola WI, at a net cost of $19,034.39.
