5.i Approving the donation of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus to the Marine Fire DepartmentSCANDIA Staff Report Date of Meeting: August, 21 2018 To: City Council From: Mike Hinz, Fire Chief Re: Old SCBA Donation Background: After receiving our new SCBA, city staff posted the old Survive Air SCBA on a government auction site. We have used this site in the past to sell replaced items and have had good success. This item did not receive any bids. Issue: What should the city do with the old SCBA? Proposal Details: Scandia Fire and Rescue has been in contact with Marine fire about the SCBA. Marine fire is currently using the same SCBA and is interested in receiving our old SCBA to complement their current units. They will also be able to use these SCBA for parts. Parts supply was one of the reason we replaced these SCBA units Fiscal Impact: The fiscal impact to Donate to Marine Fire is $0.00 The fiscal impact to repost is $0.00, but unlikely to have a positive out come & take up space The fiscal impact to decommission the packs & bottles is $300.00 Options: (1) Direct staff to arrange for Marine fire to pick-up these SCBA (2) Repost the SCBA on the auction web site (3) Dispose of the SCBA in the Trash Recommendation: Option (1).
