The regular monthly meeting f,or New Scandia Township was called
to order by Chairman Russell Jackson. Members present were:
Jackson, Nordin, Pratt, Hawkinson and Ostlund.
Hawkinson made a motion to approve minutes for April 17, 1990
as corrected, seconded by Ostlund and adopted.
Treasurers report balance on hand 4177,795.37. Nordin made
a motion to accept. Pratt seconded and adopted.
Gronouist Land Purchase
Mr. Hebert reported the sewage easement from District 831 would
be taken care of at the School Board meeting May 15, 1990 by
the form of a lease. Mr. Hawkinson reported he had rented
the land from Mr. Gronquist last February and had paid Mr.
Gronquist the rent.
Lofton Court
Hawkinson made a motion to ints_all a pipe and a catch basin
on Lofton court to extend down to the lake and David Hebert,
attorney to secure a easement from Robert Bullock. Pratt
seconded and adopted.
Barton Sand and Gravel Alarm
Mary Lou Simonson and Sargent Swanson from Washington County
were in attendance to discuss the problems with the Barton
Sand and Gravel alarm system and the need for a keyholder in
the surrounding area. Pratt made a motion to instruct Mr.
Hebert to write a letter to Barton Sand and Gravel (Gary Sauer)
about the problems with the alarm system and this matter
shall be taken care of by June 1, 1990. Hawkinson seconded
and adopted.
Maxwill Avenue Road Construction
Ostlund made a motion to accept the Engineer plans and
specifications for Maxwill from Lakamage 12500 feet north
and advertise for bids for grading and drainage and bids
shall be opened at the June 19, 1990 Town Board Meeting.
Landmark Surveying and the Township Attorney discuss
easements for Maxwill. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Horizons Inc. (Contour Maps)
Hawkinson made a motion to sign the proposal for contour
maps 228th Street to Oakhill, Meadowbrook to 97. Pratt
seconded and adopted.
Bracht Pit
Mr. Bracht reported the abstract is being reviewed for a title
opinion at this time. Mr. Bracht will have proof of ownership
and the township can secure the land for surety. Pratt made
a motion to accept Mr. Bracht's proposal to place his land
as collateral for bond and grant approval to mine one more
month and Mr. Bracht submit the necessary information and this
matter will be taken care of at the June Town Board Meeting.
Nordin seconded and adopted.
Parks and Recreation
Arnold Forsell reported on behalf of the Parks and Recreation
Mr. Forsell discussed signing for ballfields and a Indian
Marker Tree.
Clyde Saari Minor Subdivision
Mr. Saari discussed the pending application for a minor
subdivision he is proposing. Mr. Saari was requesting access
for Parcel A off the township landfill road and a boundary
issue off the landfill road. Ostlund made a motion to sign
the Quit Claim Deed for the travel portion that approaches
Mr. Saari's road and the township does not grant access from
the parcel of land that gives the township access to highway
95. Pratt seconded and adopted.
Comprehensive Plan
Hawkinson made a motion to order ten Comprehensive Plans from
Washington County. Pratt seconded and adopted.

Gas Conversion for Community Center
Pratt made a motion to award Scandia Heating to convert the
furnaces, water heater and stove to natural gas for the
Community Center. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Pratt made a motion to pay the bills for May. Nordin seconded
and adopted.
Hawkinson made a motion to adjourn. Pratt seconded and adopted.
