The regular monthly meeting for New Scandi,a Township was called
to order by Chairman Russell Jackson. Members present were:
Jackson, Nordin, Ostlund and Hawkinson. Absent: Pratt.
Ostlund made a motion to accept minutes from 5/15/90 and
6/5/90 as corrected. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Hawkinson made a motion to accept treasurers report as reported.
Ostlund seconded and adopted.
Bid ODeninas
Maxwill Road Construction
The following bids were submitted: Kadlec Excavating $40,458.25,
Peterson Excavating $30,406.36, R. E. Peterson $35,692.00,
Ro-So Contracting $81,500.00 and Jim Stevens Construction
$25,649.00. Ostlund made a motion to table the bids for
Maxwill Avenue. Chuck Wetzler Engineer shall review the
bids and verify the low bidders qualifications and award the
bid July 3, 1990. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Landfill Reclamation Plan
The following submitted bids. R. E. Peterson $20,425.00
and Peterson excavating $14,714.00. Hawkinson made a motion
to award the bid to Peterson Excavating. Nordin seconded
and adopted.
Fire Department Greg Benson
Greg Benson reviewed the Relief Association for the Fire
Department. Hawkinson made a motion to increase the lump
sum of $400.00 per year benefit for the Relief Association.
Nordin seconded and adopted.
Mary Lou Simonson Police Chief
Mrs. Simonson reported the need for a part time officer:
Hawkinson made a motion to advertise for a part time police
officer. Ostlund seconded and adopted.
Oren Road
Nordin made a motion to receive and review plans for Oren
Road July 3, 1990 at the Planning Commission Meeting. Ostlund
seconded and adopted.
Lucille Holmes Hazardous Building
Nordin made a motion to pass a resoultion for the removal of
the Lucille Holmes hazardous building on Lots 10 and 11, Block
4, Bliss Plat 1st Division. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
223rd Street Mark Poleease
Nordin made a motion that the lender for the Polgease property
join in the easement which is required for 223rd St. and
the township pay the $100.00 fee which is required. Hawkinson
seconded and adopted.
Certificates of Indebtness For Fire and Rescue
Ostlund made a motion to adopt a resoultion providing for
the issuance of certificates of indebtness for the purpose
of financing the purchase of fire and safety equipment for
New Scandia Township and the interest rate shall not exceed
72i. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Bracht Pit
David Hebert presentated a letter from Paul Bracht's attorney
stating the paper work of the property for which the township
shall have for surety has not yet been completed and this
should be completed by the July 17 1990 board meeting.
Parks and Recreation
Michael Jay made the following recommendations to the Town
Board from the Parks and Recreation Committee.
1. There is a problem with parking at the T Ball Field.
Suggestion: (To move the back stop for additional
parking).
2. The use of the dumpsite for a future park.
3. The committee is looking for a site for a hockey rink.
4. The need for a sidewalk from the Elementary School to
the uptown area on Oakhill Road.
The committee has informed citizens of New Scandia about
meetings regarding Parks and Recreation, but have not
received much support from the community.
223rd St. Bid From Lindell Excavating
Hawkinson made a motion to waiver the bond for Lindell Excavating
for the constuction of 223rd Street. Nordin seconded and
adopted.
Deed Stamps
Ostlund made a motion to stamp deed for Gerald Olson to
Mark Lbathe. Part of NW4 of SA of Govt. Lot 1, Section
4, Township 32, Range 20 West. Nordin seconded and adopted.
Nickelson Plastics Deed Stam
Hawkinson made a motion to stamp deed for Nickelson Plastics subdivision
from Glendon Sodergren. North 410.36 feet of Lot 2 County
Auditor Plat No. 6. East 407.00 feet of Lot 2, except North
410.36 and South 655 feet of West 93 feet of Lot 1, County
Auditors Plat No. 6. On contingent the township approve
the road way easement prior to any development of the property
and the owner recognizes the correct area for the public road.
Ostlund seconded and adopted.
Citation T. V.
Nordin made a motion to adopt the resoultion authorizing transfer
of control with respect to Citation Cable System. Hawkinson
seconded and adopted.
Meisters Bar and Grill
Hawkinson made a motion

Harry Nora
to permit Meisters Bar and Grill to

Nordin made a motion to allow the existing dwelling for Harry
Nora, 12140 Lakamaga Trail. Mr. Nora must remove the bathroom
facilities and fill in the picture window. Install a garage
door on the west end and remove the existing garage. The
board will inspect the building the lst of November. Hawkinson
seconded and adopted.
James O'Hara Easement
The Township attorney was directed to contact James O'Hara
about the road easement required in his variance. This deed
should be received before he is issued a building permit.
Carnelian Marine Watershed District
Ostlund made a motion to approve the Overall Plan for Carnelian
Marine Watershed District and direct the clerk and attorney
to compose a letter to Mr. Ron Gevlik with the information
of approval. Hawkinson seconded and adopted.
Bone Lake Park
The clerk presentated a letter from the Minnesota Department
of Trade and Economic Department regarding the development
plan for the Bone Lake Park. This letter shall be directed to
the Parks and Recreation Committee.
Ostlund made a motion to pay bills and adjourn meeting. Nordin
