The regular monthly meeting for New Scandia Township was called
to order by Chairman Russell Jackson. Members present were:
Jackson, Nordin, Ostlund, Pratt and Hawkinson.
ANNUAL MEETING RECONVENED
The clerk stated the March Annual Meeting shall be reconvened
and called on Bruce Swenson Moderator. The proposed levy
of $585,000.00 was presentated. Mike Peterson made a motion
to increase the Road and Bridge Fund $50,000.00 to upgrade
township roads. Mr. Swenson informed the citizens the total
amount payable in 1991 with the increase would total $635,000.00.
Motion seconded and adopted.
David Brown made a motion to adjourn, motion seconded and
adopted.
Hawkinson made a motion to accept clerks minutes for 7/17/90
and 8/7/90 with corrections. Nordin seconded and adopted.
Ostlund made a motion to accept treasurers report. Pratt seconded
and adopted.
Fire Chief Steve Spence
Mr. Spence reported the fire hall should have new doors installed.
Mr. Spence would acquire two quotes for the doors.
Chief of Police Mary Lou Simonson
The represenatives from Animal Control was unable to attend
the meeting with a proposal. It was agreed to continue the
Animal Control on a temporary basis.
Hawkinson made a motion to install a stop sign on 205th Street
and a stop ahead sign. Ostlund seconded and adopted. &Mayberry Trail
The board agreed to prepare a job description for a second police
officer.
Bid Opening for Oren Ave
One bid was submitted by Peterson Excavating for $38,878.40.
Hawkinson made a motion to accept bid from Peterson Excavating
for Oren Ave. Ostlund seconded and adopted.
Typical Road Section
The board reviewed the typical road section prepared by
Charles Wetzler, Township Engineer and stated new driveways
entering on township roads shall have a culvert 15 inches diameter
. and 2-4 feet long.
Bracht Pit
Mr. Hebert reviewed the bond progress for Bracht Pit. Pratt
made a motion to continue the Gravel Mining Permit for Bracht
Pit until September Town Board meeting. Nordin seconded
and adopted.
Howard Hawkinson Resignation
The clerk read the letter of resignation from Howard Hawkinson.
Pratt made a motion to accept the letter of resignation from
Mr. Hawkinson with regret. Nordin seconded and adopted.
Keith Hacker Driveway
Mr. Hacker informed the board the problems with his driveway
on 240th caused by the grader. The board would view the road
and make a decision.
Election Judges
Ostlund made a motion to appoint the following judges for
the Primary and General Elections:
Dolores Peterson, Russell Jackson, Charles Nordin, Edith Hadlich,
Gwen McCurdy, Kathy Carlisle and Shirley Ahlm. Pratt seconded
and adopted.

Brush Chipper
Truck Utilities presentated a quote for a brush chipper in the
amount of $12,875.00. The board would receive another quote
as this is required for an item over $10,000.00.
Northern States Power Gas Line
Nordin made a motion to install gas line on Olinda Trail and
223rd Street and 195th Street, Orwell Ave., Orwell Court,
197th Street and Old Marine Trail. Hawkinson seconded and
adopted.
Landfill Reclamation
Ostlund made a motion to send a letter to the Soil and Water
Consveration District and express New Scandia Township's
pleasure with the engineering design and construction for the
Landfill Reclamation Project. Pratt seconded and adopted.
Receptacle for Litter Control
Nordin made a motion to instruct the clerk to purchase a -
resptacle for litter outside the Community Center. Hawkinson

Pratt made a motion to pay bills for August. Ostlund seconded
and adopted.
