On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their
regular monthly meeting. The following members of the Town
Board was also present: Russell Jackson, Charles Nordin, Duane
Thompson, Kevin Nickelson and Paul Rasmussen.
Charles Benson Variance
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to deny the
request for Charles Benson 23230 Melanie Trail North, Scandia,
MN. Lot 9 Block 1 Dahlin Estates Plat #2. To deny this variance
because of points listed in the letter from Washington County.
1. Lake setback 100 feet required to about 45 feet.
This building would be between the house and the lake
and not in accordance with the Shoreline Ordinance.
2. Side yard set back 10 feet required to 5 feet proposed.
3. No accessory building between the house and the lake,
with the exception of a 240 square feet boat house,
storage building.
4. The lot size is not adequate for this size building
and much larger than other structures that do exist
on the lake.
Nordin made a motion to accept. Thompson seconded and adopted.
Security State Bank
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to approve the
Conditional Use Permit for Security State Bank 120 Judd Street
Marine, MN 55047. To operate a Banking Facility in Scandia
Plaza Unit 6. For one year and then renewal could be for a
longer period of time. Rasmussen made a motion to accept.
Nordin seconded and adopted.
Lee Sandager
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
variance for Lee Sandgren 19303 Orwell Ave. North, Marine, MN.
55047. Lot 16 Merrywood Addition. To grant this variance
as the addition comes no closer to the shoreline then the
present home. Thompson made a motion to accept. Rasmussen
seconded and adopted.
Al Augustine Minor Subdivision
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
Minor Subdivision to owner Al Augustine 13930 Scandia Trail
and applicant Curt Augustine 13930 Scandia Trail, Scandia, MN.
The NW4 of WE4 of Section 15 Township 32, Range 20 West.

To subdivide a 5.9 acres and a 32.9 acres parcel subject to soil
testing being approved for the 5-.9 parcel. The access for the
property be from Novak Avenue. That 30 feet from the centerline
of Novak be dedicated to the township for road purposes. That
drainage easements to the 100 year Flood Level be dedicated.
Thompson made a motion to accept. Rasmussen seconded and adopted.
John Kramer
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
variance to John Kramer 19355 Oxboro Avenue North, Marine, MN.
NW4 of SE4 of Section 26, Township 32, Runge 20 West. To construct
a 2 level deck 50 feet from the Outlet Channel of Sand Lake.
Provided applicant takes all reasonable steps to reduce erosion
into the Channel. Rasmussen made a motion to accept. Nickelson
seconded and adopted.
Arthur Klinefelter
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
Minor Subdivision to Arthur Klinefelter 12261 196th Street,
Marine, MN. Part of Govt. Lots 2 and 3, Section 29, Township
32, Range 20 West. Subject to the points recommended by
Washington County. T�ekkMaxwill Road dedication has or will
be taken care of. Thealot will be Iz acres. Soil testing has
been done and approved. Nordin made a motion to accept. Thompson
seconded and adopted.
Mr. Russell Jackson informed the Board and Planning Commission
that Mr. George Lindgren has asked for approval for a Mining
Permit for the pit on Highway 97. It was agreed to contact
Dennis O'Donnell from Washington County for reasons Mr. Lindgren's
permit can not be isssued. The Clerk shall write a letter to
Mr. Lindgren and the Town Board members shall sign the letter.
Thompson made a motion to adjourn. Rasmussen seconded and adopted.
