On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their
regular monthly meeting. The following members of the Town
Board were also present: Russell Jackson, Duane Thompson, Paul
Rasmussen, Charles Nordin and Kevin Nickelson.
Greg Hawkinson Variance
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
variance's to Gregg Hawkinson, 9784 210th Street, Forest Lake,
MN 55025. Lot 5 Linnells Bone Lake Addition. Lake setback
100 feet required to 75 feet. Lake Frontage 150 feet required
to 75 feet. Road frontage 150 feet to 75 feet. Lot size 12 acres
required to 11,250 square feet. Approval of the deck that is
already constructed for the following reasons: The deck is no
closer to the lake than the deck with the steps was before the
repair, and is not an intrusion on the lake. The property to the
north has a house with a deck closer to the lake then the Hawkinson's.
Rasmussen made a motion to accept. Thompson seconded and adopted.
John Fraley Eko Backen Conditional Use Permit
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
Amended Conditional Use Permit to John Fraley Eko Backen, 22570
Manning Trail, Scandia, MN 55073. SE4 of NW4 of Section 7, Township
32. To allow the following: Miniature Golf, Playground Equipment,
Batting Cages, Hayrides, Driving Range, Volley Ball Court and
Fishing Pond. With condition that the generator be muffeled prior
to June 1, 1993 and the facilities be reviewed in 1 year. Findings:
These activies fall within the recreational property use of this
land. It does not adversely effect the safety, health, welfare
or property values of the area. It does not appear it will be more
intrusive than the present operation. Nickelson made a motion to
accept with the following addition. The project must be completed
in 5 years and if not Mr. fraley would have to apply for another
Amended Conditional Use Permit. Rasmussen seconded and adopted.
Charles Benson Variance
Mr. Benson's hearing was tabled to September.
Willard Svkes Variance's
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
variance's to Willard Sykes, 13100 182nd Street, Marine, MN 55047.
Lot 6 Big Lake View. The addition shall be no closer to the lake
then the present structure. The deck shall be 8 feet and not
enclsoed above or below. Lot size 12 acres to 1.1 acre existing.
Subject to septic system approval by Washington County Department
of Health. Nordin made a motin to approve. Thompson seconded
and adopted.
Elwood Pheasant Glen Plat (Dan Lindgren)
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant preliminary
plat approval to Dan Lindgren (Elwood Pheasant Glen Plat). Govt. 1
and the South 260 feet of the NW-4 of SW4 in Section 23, Twsp. 32,
Range 20. Subject to drainage easements, septic approval, road
location and status of Outlot C Merrywood 2nd Addition. Rasmussen
made a motion to accept. Thompson seconded and adopted.
Judd Street Publishing (Kay Hempel)
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
approval of the Conditional Use Permit to operate the Country
Messenger from the following address, 21080 Olinda Trail. Lot 3,
4 and 24 Scandia Addition. This Conditional Use Permit shall be
renewed in 5 years. Thompson made a motion to accept. Rasmussen
seconded and adopted.
