On the above date New Scandia Town Board held a special meeting
for the assessment hearing for Lofton Court. Members present
were: Charles Nordin, Russell Jackson, Paul Rasmussen and Duane
Thompson. Absent, Kevin Nickelson.
ASSESSMENT HEARING
Tom Prew Township Engineer reviewed the project cost and the
assessment rate of $630.00-per parcel.
Mr. Robert Schwartz 23249 Lofton Court questioned if the town
board was satisfied with the road regrading and did this project
elevate the water problem. Mr. Schwartz felt he was receiving a
lot more water drainage on his property. Mr. Tom O'Gorman 23247
Lofton Court was not present, but expressed his concern to Mr.
Schwartz about the drainage problem. Mr. Tom Prew stated he felt
the water problem was a big improvement on Lofton Court.
Mr. Robert Schwartz asked why there was not a cul-du-sac
installed at the end of Lofton Court and Mr. Schwartz was
informed there was not enough room for a cul-du-sac and a turn
around is designed so a school bus can turn around.
Mr. James O'Hara 23167 Lofton Court, Scandia, MN 55073 was
concerned about the restoration of side slopes. He stated he
would not be able to mow, as it was so rough. Mr. Tom Prew
stated the township will hold the contract until next spring,
1994.
The clerk informed the board no written objections had been
received or accepted in the township office protesting against
the assessments.
Russell Jackson made a motion to adopt the Resolution Adopting
the Assessment for Lofton Court. Duane Thompson seconded the
motion and adopted.
Langly Drainage Problems
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to authorize the Township Engineer
to receive quotes for the drainage problem on Langly Avenue as
per drawing submitted 1/28/93. Duane Thompson seconded and
adopted. Duane Thompson made a motion to adjourn.
