On the above date New Scandia Township held a Special Meeting
for Long Range Planning regarding bituminous surfacing.
Following Board Members were present: Kevin Nickelson, Duane
Thompson, Russell Jackson, Paul Rasmussen and Charles Nordin.
Mr. Kevin Nickelson presentated a Bituminous Surfacing Policy
for exsiting gravel roads. The policy was reviewed and revised
and after a new draft is prepared the board will take action
on this matter.
Mr. Nickelson presentated the following resoultion:
Whereas: It is not the intention of the Town Board to
discourage farming in New Scandia Township by
leving cost -prohibitive assessments.
Whereas- It is a goal of New Scandia Township's
Comprehensive Plan to "Encourage the
continuation of commercial farming as
a viable land use and significant economic
activity within the Township".
Therefore be it resolved that we limit
local (residential) road assessable units
to not more than one per farm residence and
any remaining assessable units on that farm
should be assessed at the collector road rate.
A Farm is here defined as having a minimum gross
agricultural sales of $5,000.00 in the previous
tax year.
There was no action taken on the resoultion.
Joint Resoultion Regarding District Memorial Hospital
The board reviewed the Joint Resoultion of the City of Forest
Lake, City of Hugo and the Town of Columbus regarding the
District Memorial Hospital of Forest Lake for a lease agreement
with Healthspan.
Rasmussen made a motion to adopt this resoultion. Jackson seconded
and adopted.
