The regular monthly meeting of New Scandia Township was called
to order by Chairman, Charles Nordin. Present were: Charles
Nordin, Russell Jackson, Kevin Nickelson and Paul Rasmussen.
Absent, Duane Thompson.
CONSENT AGENDA
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the Consent Agenda as
follows:
1. Clerks minutes for 6/15/93, 6/17/93, 6/22/93 and 7/6/93.
2. Approval of Treasurer's report. Balance $346,990.18
3. Approve payment of July bills.
Motion seconded by Russell Jackson. Motion carried unanimously.
JOSEPH VRUNO MINOR SUBDIVISION
The board had viewed the Joe Vruno property regarding a Minor
Subdivision. Mr. Vruno would have another option for the Subdivision
and this will be on the agenda for August 3, 1993.
PARKS AND RECREATION
Shirley Sova presentated a map with some proposed trails for New
Scandia Township.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to name the 40 acres on Highway 95.
Wind In The Pines Preserve Kevin Nickelson seconded the motion
and motion adopted.
Mr. Tom Prew presentated plans for the proposed ice facilities.
Members of the Park Board suggested different locations of the
rink on the site and suggested different dimensions. Mr. Prew
would resign the proposal for the August meeting.
LOFTON COURT
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to accept the resoultion for Ordering
Improvement and Preparation of Plans for Lofton Court.
Kevin Nickelson made the following amendment to the motion. Lofton
Court improvement has been discussed for years by the town board.
Since the r oad has been a problem for many years and for safety
reasons we need to widen the road and to comply with Forest Lake
Watershed we need to also blacktop Lofton Court. New Scandia
Town Board shall refer to roman numeral ?T and letter F, from
the Bituminous Surfacing Policy. Mr. Russell Jackson seconded the
amendment. The following voted yes on the amendment. Charles
Nordin, Kevin Nickelson, Russell Jackson and Paul Rasmussen.
Duane Thompson, absent. Motion adopted.
The following vote on the motion with the amendment. Charles Nordin,
Russell Jackson, Kevin Nickelson, Paul Rasmussen voted yes. Duane
Thompson absent. Motion adopted.
PETITION FOR BITUMINOUS SURFACING OF 236TH STREET, 237TH STREET,
NOVAK AND OLDFIELD
A petition was presentated for bituminous surfacing for 236th Street,
237th Street, Novak and Oldfield.
Kevin Nickelson made a motion that the board has received a valid
petition for 236th.Street, 237th Street and the staff should
verify if the petition is valid for Novak and Oldfield. Russell
Jackson seconded and adopted. is
LETTER REGARDING TOWNSHIP ORDINANCE'S ( BLISS ADDITION)
It was agreed Mr. Nordin would visit each resident and discuss
the problems with the homeowners.
POLICE PROTECTION
It was reported that May Township was not interested in sharing -a Police
Officer with New Scandia Township under the Washington County contract.
This item will be discussed at the reconvened Annual Meeting.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to adjourn.
