The regular monthly meeting was called to order by Chairman,
Charles Nordin. The following Board Members were present:
Chairman, Charles Nordin, vice Chairman, Duane Thompson, Edith
Hadlich, Kevin Nickelson and Paul Rasmussen.
Informational Meeting Road Improvement of 181st Street and
182nd Street
A Informational Meeting was held regarding the Road Improvement
for 181st and 182nd Street. Mr Tom Prew, Township Engineer
presented a drawing of the proposed improvement which consists of
a mile and one half. Residents were concerned as to access these
streets you must travel 177th and Norell and these streets are in
May Township. May Township Supervisors were sent the information
and the township requested their presence, but no one was in
attendance. Residents were concerned about excessive speeding,
assessment costs and not bituminous surfacing 177th Street and
Norell. No decisions were made regarding the improvement.
Gravel Bid
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to award the Gravel Bid to Cad
Contracting which was lowest responsible bid. Kevin Nickelson
seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Tractor Purchase
Duane Thompson informed the Township Board the need for a new
lawn mowing tractor and requested purchase of a John Deere under
the State Cooperative Bid Agreement.
Kevin Nickelson made a motion to purchase a John Deere Tractor at
a estimated cost of $10,-365.00. Edith Hadlich seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Truck Update
Edith Hadlich made a motion to purchase a Truck from Boyer Ford
under the State Cooperative Bid Agreement. Paul Rasmussen
seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Used Air Conditioners Purchase
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to sell the two air conditioners
that were removed from the Community Center to E1im Lutheran
Church for the amount of $450.00. Edith Hadlich seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.

James Manthey Ordinance Violations
It was agreed Mr David Hebert pursue the zoning violations
regarding Mr James Manthey.
Agreement For The Scandia Lighted Ball Field
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to sign the Agreement concerning the
Scandia Lighted Ball Field and the deed shall state the property
shall be a softball filed for 20 years or other recreational
purposes. Duane Thompson seconded the motion and motion adopted
unanimously.
Forest Lake Watershed Meeting Fees
Kevin Nickelson was requesting information regarding payment for
persons on the Forest Lake Watershed Board. The township office
would contact Forest Lake Township regarding this subject.
Joint Powers Agreement For Ice Arena
A letter was received regarding a Joint Powers Agreement for Ice
Arena in Forest Lake to help support the arena in the event their
revenue fall short of the required amounts to support the arena
and pay off the bonds. This item was tabled.
Application For Authorization To Conduct Excluded Bingo
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to sign the application for
Authorization to conduct Excluded Bingo for Scandia/Marine Lions.
Edith Hadlich seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Letter Opposing Disbanding Of The Forest Lake Water Management
Organization
Kevin Nickelson made a motion to send a letter to Washington
County Board of Commissioners stating New Scandia Township are
not in favor of disbanding the Forest Lake Water Management
Organization. Kevin Nickelson, yes, Duane Thompson, yes and
Edith Hadlich, yes. Paul Rasmussen, no and Charles Nordin, no.
Motion passed.
