The regular monthly meeting of New Scandia Town Board was called
to order by Chairman, Charles Nordin. The following Board
Members were present: Chairman, Charles Nordin, Vice Chairman,
Duane Thompson, Edith Hadlich, Kevin Nickelson and Paul
Rasmussen.
Township Engineer/Tom Prew
Mr Tom Prew, Township Engineer presented the following bids for
quotes on the various work for the Community Center Well.
(1) 10 HP Pump and Pitless Adapter, Keys Well Drilling $6800.00
(2) Outside Piping Work Danner Inc $11700.00
(3) Inside Piping Work M.C. Magney $20600.00
(4) Inside and Outside Piping Work Manship Plumbing $24900.00
Duane Thompson made a motion to accept the quote from Keys Well
Drilling for the 10 HP Pump and Pitless Adapter for the amount
of $6,800.00 and the Inside and Outside Piping Work, to Manship
Plumbing in the amount of $24900.00. Edith Hadlich seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Brian Jemelka's Contract For Employment
Brian Jemelka reviewed the Washington County Contract and
informed the board the pay scale for Heavy Equipment Operator for
1997 is $16.21. He also informed the board the County has a
allowance for uniform and foot wear of $85.00. It was agreed the
pay scale would be reviewed in November.
Mayberry/Lofton Assessment Hearing
Edith Hadlich made a motion to accept the Assessment Role for
Mayberry/Lofton Road Project for 1996. Paul Rasmussen seconded
the motion and motion adopted.
Decision On Roofing, Stucco And Trim For Skating Facility
Duane Thompson made a motion the Skating Facility colors shall be
as follows: Green roof, beige stucco and green trim. Paul
Rasmussen seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Decision Making Committee For Skating Facility
Duane Thompson made a motion to appoint Paul Rasmussen to the
Decision Making Committee for the Skating Facility.

Kevin Nickelson seconded the motion and motion adopted
unanimously.
Physical For John Morrison Payment
Duane Thompson made a motion to pay for the required physical for
John Morrison. Edith Hadlich seconded the motion and motion
adopted unanimously.
Interview For Road Committee and Park Committee
It was agreed to interview for Committees on October 15, 1996 at
6:30 p.m. and to advertise for candidates for the Park Committee.
Mr Charles Nordin stated a representative from TKDA has requested
to speak at the next town board meeting as the company has been
changing their formats.
Mr Kevin Nickelson requested that the Township Attorney, David
Hebert prepare a Taxing District for the area that is in the
Forest Lake Water Management Organization, but have never been
taxed for the service.
Overhead Service From NSP For Skating Facility
The clerk presented a proposal from Northern States Power for
overhead service for the Skating Facility in the amount of
$2139.00. It was agreed Mr Rasmussen would meet with Northern
States Power and request a possible donation of the service.
Edith Hadlich made a motion to authorize payment of the overhead
service for October 15, 1996 and Mr Rasmussen notify the office
regarding the decision from Northern States Power. Duane
Thompson seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion the meeting adjourn.
