On the above date New Scandia Town Board held a Public Hearing
for the 1997 Street Improvements. The following Board Members
were present: Charles Nordin, Chairman, Duane Thompson, Vice
Chairman, Edith Hadlich, Kevin Nickelson and Paul Rasmussen.
Mr Tom Prew reviewed and discussed each of the following streets
which are proposed to be upgraded and bituminous surfaced, 181st
Street, 182nd Street, 199th Street, Parkview Lane, Parkview
Avenue, 199th Street East of Parkview Avenue, Oxboro Avenue,
Oxboro, 205th Street and 191st Street.
Residents on 181st Street where concerned about the cul-du-sac
and they stated they favored a cul-du-sac, rather then a hammer-
head turn -around. Residents where also concerned about the
safety issue on 199th Street and Oxboro Avenue by Sand Lake.
Letters were read from Kenneth Frieberg, Willard Sykes, Don
Sheldon and Bill Soth favoring the bituminous surfacing on 182nd
Street. A survey was completed by Darrell Shaw, Bernie
Winkleman, Gene Hinz and Rob Jensen, stating 750 of the residents
on 182nd Street are in favor of the bituminous surfacing. A
petition was read with 6 signatures opposing the bituminous
surfacing on Oxboro Avenue. A letter was read from Harvey
Lindgren, Power of Attorney for Nathan Lindgren opposing
bituminous surfacing. A letter was also read from Bradley
Underwood opposing the bituminous surfacing.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the Resolution to order
the Improvement and Preparation of Plans by Mr Tom Prew/TKDA
Engineer for the 1997 Street Improvement, with a alternate bid
for 205th Street and 191st Street. Duane Thompson seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
