On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their
regular monthly meeting. The following Board Members were
present: Charles Nordin, Chairman, Paul Rasmussen, Vice
Chairman, Kevin Nickelson, Robert Jensen and Dennis Seefeldt.
Theodore Harms
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
renewal of the Conditional Use Permit to Theodore Harms, 2908
Marine Circle, P.O. Box 529, Stillwater, MN 55082. To operate
Greystone Educational Materials at 21279 Olinda Trail North,
Scandia, MN 55073. For five years on the grounds that there have
been no violations of the permit since it was first granted.
Conditions are the same as those in the permit when first issued.
Findings are no objections written or otherwise the first year of
operation have been presented at any time.
Robert Jensen made a motion to accept the Planning Commissions
recommendations. Paul Rasmussen seconded the motion and motion
adopted unanimously.
Lois Miller/Lynn Shafer/Scott Duncan
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
Conditional Use Permit for a two year period to Lois Miller and
Lynn Shafer to operate Mill Ridge Country Stare at the location
legally described as part of Lots 5 and 6, Revision of Vasa on
the grounds that the building meets applicable standards.
Conditions are that a written parking agreement be established
between Mr. Duncan and Crabtrees, a building permit be issued for
the remodeling of the structure, and opinion and agreement be
received from the National Park Service, the existing Conditional
Use Permit on Olinda Trail stay in place but may be used for
storage only for a period of two years, and that business hours
are Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Findings
are no opposition from residents, minimal impact on sewer and
water and parking facilities.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to accept the Planning Commissions
recommendations. Dennis Seefeldt seconded the motion and motion
adopted unanimously.
Howard Hawkinson Major Plat
Howard Hawkinson presented a Major Subdivision concept for 77.5
acres off of 238th Street and Lofton Avenue. The plat includes
nine lots ranging in size from 5 acres to 9.9 acre.

Gerald Olson Malor Subdivision
The Planning Commission and Town Board reviewed the written
comments from the RLPC regarding this Major Subdivision. It was
determined that the comments exceeded the scope of the RLPC
regarding wetland restoration as water quality issues are already
handled by the WMO. Mr Paul Rasmussen, Vice Chairman, agreed to
contact Mr Curt Hadland regarding these issues.
