6-09-98 tb specialJune 9, 1998
On the above date New Scandia Town Board held a Special Meeting
to review and discuss the proposed upgrading of the following
streets: Lamar Avenue, Langly Avenue, Langly Court, 187th
Street, Layton Avenue, Layton Court, Larkspur Avenue, 192nd
Street, 190th Street, 189th Street, 186th Street and 185th
Street.
The following Board Members were present: Dennis Seefeldt,
Chairman, Paul Rasmussen, Vice Chairman, Robert Jensen, Kevin
Nickelson, Bruce McConoughey.
Dennis Seefeldt informed the residents that persons who would
receive Certificates of Survey should receive them approximately
around July 15, 1998. The plastic posts with pink ribbon
reference the iron pipe in the ground and the yellow painted lath
is reference the road right of way.
The following residents voiced their concerns that the addition
of more gravel and bituminous surfacing will raise the roads and
result in runoff to the homes and garages that are close to the
road: Harold Johnson, 18599 Langly Avenue, Gene Collier, 19201
Larkspur, Steven Rotier, 18623 Langly Court, Fred Snelson, 11181
189th Street, George Semling, 19189 Layton and Ann Myre, 19111
Larkspur.
Tom Peterson, Township Engineer informed the residents that
ditches should channel the water away from the areas and where it
is possible, roads will be tilted toward the wetlands. The
Washington County Soil and Conservation District will require
ponding basins to collect runoff. Mr. Peterson assured the
residents that there would be no change in elevation of the
homes.
Residents also expressed their concerns about speeding on
bituminous surfacing and questioned the assessment costs.
Mr. and Ms. Robert Peterson, 10980 185th Street, requested a stop
sign and speed zone in their area.
The Township Engineer and Road Supervisor would review all the
areas of concern before the road upgrading.
Meeting adjourned.
