On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their
regular monthly meeting. The following Board Members were also
present: Dennis Seefeldt, Chairman, Paul Rasmussen, Vice
Chairman, Michael Hinz and Robert Jensen.
Erich Kertzscher
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
variance to Ernie Kertzscher, 21355 Parrish, Scandia, MN 55073.
SW 1/4 of NW 1/4 of the SW 1/4 of Section 13, Township 32, Geo
Code: 13-032-20-32-0001. To construct a accessory building
closer to the road then the house on the grounds that there
are no practical alternatives. Conditions are the storage shed
is removed within 60 days of construction of the garage.
Findings are the structure will not alter the essential character
of the locality and the lot is a nominal 5 acre lot.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the Planning Commission
recommendation for Erich Kertzscher. Robert Jensen seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Kenneth Wolfbauer
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to deny the
variance to Kenneth Wolfbauer, 18300 Norell, Marine, MN 55047.
Lots 21, 22, 23 and 24, Erickson Second Addition. To deny the 10
foot Road Setback variance request on the grounds that the garage
can be built closer to the house and other alternatives are
available. Conditions are the present shed is removed if an
accessory structure is built. Findings are no hardship exists
and granting the variance would set a precedent.
Robert Jensen made a motion to approve the Planning Commission
recommendation for Kenneth Wolfbauer. Michael seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Amending Township Zoning Ordinance Review
1. Amend ordinance of 2.foot overhang on accessory buildings to
a minimum of 12 inches.
2. All lakes came back with lakeshore zoning of 2.5 acres. The
rest should be 5 acres as environmental lakes.
3. Should the town allow five -acres lots to be subdivided on
recreational lakes to 2.5 acres? Why distinguish between
platted from non -platted lots?
4. Does the town want to rezone General Business district on
Highway 97 and County Road 3 to retail so light manufacturing
can not be located in that area.
5. Revisit types of use in business district for certificate of

instead of a Conditional Use Permit. This item shall be
reviewed by a committee consisting of Paul Rasmussen, Michael
Hinz, Charlie Ellis and Peter Schwartz.
