New Scandia Town Board was called to order by Chairman, Dennis
Seefeldt. The following Board Members were present: Dennis
Seefeldt, Chairman, Paul Rasmussen, Vice Chairman, Michael Hinz
and Robert Jensen.
Ken Carlson/Addition of Two Acres
Robert Jensen made a motion to wavier the Minor Subdivision for
Kenneth Carlson/Barbara Affeldt and that the addition of the
two acres be combined with Mr. Carlson's parcel and present a
copy of the Certificate of Survey for the township office file.
Paul Rasmussen seconded the motion and motion adopted
unanimously.
Fred Knaak/Annexation to New Scandia Township
Mr. Knaak representing a group of citizens from Forest Lake
Township that is approximately 4 sections of land would like to
be considered to be annexed to New Scandia Township. The four
sections are approximately 6 miles and 7/8 of the six miles are
shared with Hugo and none of the roads are bituminous surfaced.
Mr. Knaak stated the citizens realize that this decision would be
up to the Municipal Board, but if the Township of Forest Lake is
annexed to the City of Forest Lake the citizens would favor to be
annexed to New Scandia Township.
Robert Jensen made a motion to recesstheTown Board meeting
until after the Planning Commission meeting adjourns. Michael
Hinz seconded motion and adopted.
Barbara Schwartz/Vending MachineForSkating Facility
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the installation of
vending machines inside of the Skating Facility. The machines
shall include pop and candies, but no glass bottles. Robert
Jensen seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Street Lights/Security Light (209th Street)
Robert Jensen made a motion to approve the installation of a
street light on the electric pole by the Community Center and
and by the pole by the Elim Parking Lot on 209th Street. The
installation of a nightwatch liminaire by the Skating Facility
installed on the electric pole on the corner of 209th and Olinda.
Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.

Change Order For Test Well and Water Well Construction
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the change order for the
test well and water well construction. Michael Hinz seconded the
motion and motion adopted unanimously.
NSP Gas Main
Dennis Seefeldt made a motion to approve the installation of a
gas main for Northern State Power Gas on Manning and Mayberry.
Robert Jensen seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
OSHA Training
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the training through
Anoka -Hennepin Technical College for OSHA Compliance for the
Public Works Department. Michael Hinz seconded the motion and
motion adopted unanimously.
Appointment of New Scandia Township Supervisor
By paper ballot Kevin Nickelson was selected to serve in the
capacity of Supervisor to replace the vacated seat of Bruce
McConoughey until March 7, 2000.
TIF Monies For The`201 Project
Robert Jensen made a motion to direct the township office to send
a letter to Pet Genzel, Washington County Department of Health
stating that New Scandia Township is instructing the Department
of Health to secure the necessary information/blueprints for the
201 Septic System around Big Marine Lake. This project should be
a joint effort between New Scandia Township and May Township.
Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
Steve Spence/Washington County Dispatch Communications
Mr. Spence stated the County is implementing a cut back on the
township rescue response for medical. The calls will be rated
and calls rated as A and B the New Scandia Rescue would not be
called. The New Scandia Rescue Department would like to assist
in all calls.
Mr. Spence would submit a letter to the Sheriff Frank, Washington
County informing the County that the New Scandia Fire and Rescue
prefers to response to all calls.

Road Supervisor/Michael Hinz
Michael Hinz made a motion that Bill Poidinger, Public Works
Department be instructed to apply for his Class B, license, so
if needed Mr. Poidinger would be available to plow for the
township. Robert Jensen seconded the motion and motion adopted
unanimously.
Telephone Cable/GTE Phone Company
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the buried telephone
cable for GTE Phone Company on Oakhill Road and Oren Avenue.
Michael Hinz seconded the motion and -motion adopted unanimously.
Mike White/Ice Time
Mr. white stated that the Skating Facility will be charging a
small fee for Ice Time for Hockey Players, approximately $20.00
to $30.00 per player.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to adjourn. Robert Jensen seconded
the motion and meeting adjourned.
