On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their
regular monthly meeting. The following Board Members were also
present: Chairman, Dennis Seefeldt, Vice Chairman, Paul
Rasmussen, Michael Hinz, Robert Jensen and Kevin Nickelson.
Gravel Mining Permits
Tiller Corporation
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
mining permit to Tiller Corporation for one year on the grounds
that all conditions have been met. Conditions are the same as
last year and Tiller Corporation will check with the Minnesota
Department of Transportation regarding an acceleration lane.
Findings are all Township Ordinances have been met.
Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the Planning Commission
recommendations to approve the mining permit for Tiller
Corporation.
Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion approved unanimously.
Dresel Contracting
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant a one-
year mining permit to Dresel Contracting on the grounds that all
conditions of the current permit have been met. The same
conditions continue with this permit. Findings are no complaints
and all was in order at the site inspection.
Robert Jensen made a motion to approve the Planning Commission
recommendation for the approval of the mining permit for Dresel
Contracting. Kevin Nickelson seconded the motion and motion
adopted unanimously.
Bracht Bros., Inc.
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant a one-
year mining permit to Bracht Bros., Inc. on the grounds that
there were no complaints. Conditions are the same as in the
past. Findings are all ordinances and permit requirements have
been met.

Maria Hinz -Variance
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the
following variances to Gene and Maria Hinz to move their garage
and attach it to their home with an addition: 1)Bluff Setback 30
feet to 4.3 feet;2)Road Frontage 150 feet to 999 feet;3)Lake
Frontage 150 feet to 89 feet;4)Lot Size 2.5 acres
to 1.17 acres;and5)Side Yard Setback 20 feet to 16 feet on the
grounds that the new garage will have a larger sideyard setback
than the existing garage
and four of the five variances requested are not created by the
landowner.
Conditions are: 1)no storage allowed behind the garage;2)the
septic system be approved by Washington County;3)the new addition
match the house in color;4)erosion and drainage control be done
by the Soil and Water Conservation District so there will be no
net increase in water runoff. Findings are this will not alter
the essential character of the property.
Kevin Nickelson made a motion to approve the Planning Commission
recommendation to grant the variances for the construction of a
garage for Maria and Gene Hinz, 13000 182nd Street, Marine, MN
55047. Lot 5 Big Lake View 2nd Addition. With the following
addition;l)Fouur of the five variances are existing2)This is a
improvement to the lot. Robert Jensen seconded the motion.
Robert Jensen, Kevin Nickelson, Paul Rasmussen and Dennis
Seefeldt voted yes. Michael Hinz, abstained, motion adopted.
