4-11-00 specialApril 11, 2000 On the above date New Scandia Town Board held a Special Meeting to address the reconstruction and graveling of 185th Street, 188th Street, Norell and a small portion of Newgate. The following Board Members were present: Dennis Seefeldt, Chairman, Michael Hinz, Kevin Nickelson, and John Martineau. Paul Rasmussen, Vice Chairman was absent. Tom Peterson, Township Engineer stated the road should be 28 feet wide and the bituminous surfacing is 24 feet. A discussion was held regarding the width of the road and it was stated it could probably be narrower as the residents requested to narrow the road a couple of feet. This will be determined at a later date after the Township Engineer has meet with the affected property owners. Vernon Hank, 18630 Norrel, was concerned with the project as the family have a cabin that is very close to the road now and after construction the cabin will be right next to the road. Ms. Hank was informed that it would improve their lot and cabin if the structure would be moved. Larry Grundtner, 13490 188th Street, stated he was opposing the cutting of the pine trees on the edge of his property and that the road should be 10 feet in the other direction. Todd Balsineo, 13430 188th Street, questioned if the road could go the other direction by the septic area that serves several dwellings in the area. Tom Peterson stated he would review the issue as there is a plan to extend the 201 Septic System along the lake. Marcella Harnden, 13420 188th Street, asked if there could be a possibility to straighten the road by the drainfield. Residents that paid for the drainfield area had concerns as they would have to incur another expense to contact to the 201 Sewer System. Steve Kronmiller, 13450 188th Street, and David Schwelling, 18510 Norell stated there is a problem making a left hand turn from Norell onto 185th Street. Tom Peterson stated there could be a possibility of cutting into the bank on the east side of the property that is owned by Molly Rice. Linda Marotzke, 18911 Newgate, was concerned about restoring wetlands by her property and she did not want the piles of concrete, stumps, etc., removed from their property. Steve Schroeder, 13781 185th Street, stated the erosion is a problem going down the hill of 185th Street. He was informed catch basins would be installed in the area. David Kotrba, 18462 Norell, and Geral Moe, 18280 Noxell , were both concerned about the elevation of the road and the road is 3 feet higher then their lot. They were informed this would be corrected with the reconstruction. page 2 Chris Ness, 18280 Norell, was concerned about the width of the road and more water run off, and ditching by his residence. His garage is close to the road now and the reconstruction would bring the garage closer to the road. Many residents on Norell expressed the need for a turn -around on the end of Norell. It was agreed that Tom Peterson, Township Engineer meet with residents regarding the above issues and that perhaps schedule another Informational Meeting when the plans are more complete. Meeting adjourned. Dolores Peterson 4jal-'t' -- New Scan Township Clerk
