On the above date New Scandia Town Board held an Informational Meeting for the
Reconstruction of 185t' Street,188th Street and Norell Avenue. The following Board
Members were also present: Chairman, Dennis Seefeldt, Vice Chairman, Paul
Rasmussen, Michael Hinz, Kevin Nickelson and John Martineau.
Mr. Tom Peterson, Township Engineer reviewed the plans for the reconstruction and
answered questions pertaining to the project. He stated the project would be
approximately one mile in length and 22 feet wide. Mr. Peterson had a display
of pictures of Rain Gardens that will be planted in approximately 15 drainage areas. The
plants will be Native Minnesota Plants.
Mr. John Martineau, Supervisor and Representative of the SCADA/201 System Upgrade
Assessment informed the property owners that SCADA is in the process of purchasing
land from Schroeder's on the top of 188t' Street for a drainfield. The drainfield on 188t'
Street will be eliminated, so therefore property owners connected to that system should
be allowed to connect to the 201 System without a charge.
Property owners expressed their concerns about run-offs, entrances to driveways,
wetlands, the water quality of Jellums Bay and reducing the grade of the hill coming from
185t' Street. The residents were informed the project should take approximately two
months and if they have questions or concerns an inspector from Bonestro would be
available during construction or contact the engineer or township office.
Meeting adjourned.
