7-10-01 tbJuly 10, 2001 New Scandia Town Board meeting was called to order by Chairman, Dennis Seefeldt. The following Board Members were also present: Paul Rasmussen, Vice Chairman. Michael Hinz, Nancy Madden and John Martineau. �� 1 •ail i ! '• � Mr. Olsen questioned if the township had made any decisions to relocate the Drop -Off recycling that is behind the Old Fire Hall. Mr. Olsen was concerned with the number of trailers at the site and problems with dust. Mr. Olsen was informed that the township would apply dust control on the area and Mr. Swenson will be requested to attend the July 17, 2001 meeting to discuss this issue. Mike White/Culvert on Lakamaga Trail Mr. White reported that a resident is blocking a culvert on Lakamaga Trail and requested a letter be written to the resident to discontinue blocking the culvert. Painting Quotes for Community Center and Public Works Building The following quotes were submitted for painting of Community Center and the old Maintenance Garage: Panola Painting Systems, Maintenance Building $3744.00 Community Center $7413.00 Alternate/Roof $3360.00 Northern Painting, Maintenance Building $4285.00 Community Center $8413.00 Alternate/Roof $3960.00 Rivard Paint and Stain Maintenance Building and/a, 3?6 • o 0 Community Center $+04-9-.N Alternate/Roof $ 890.00 Total quotes were as follows: Panola Painting System, $11157.00, Northern Painting, $12698.00 and Rivard Paint and Stain, $10,380.00. The bid will be awarded on July 17, 2001 meeting. Park Committee Appointment Dennis Seefeldt made a motion to appoint Paul Rasmussen to represent the Town Board to the Park and Recreation Committee. Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Page 2 Resolution/State Trunk Highway 97 Traffic Study Paul Rasmussen made a motion to adopt and sign Resolution Number 7-10-01-1 regarding State Trunk Highway 97 Traffic Study. Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Skating Facility/BMX Track Mr. Seefeldt reviewed problems that are incurring at the Skating Facility and BMX Track such as, l) damage to the building; 2) broken glass; 3) jumps not being maintained and damaged; 4) alcoholic beverages: 5) the BMX Track height 6) bicycles used on the jumps. Dennis Seefeldt made a motion to remove equipment from the Skating Facility and close the facility for one week and request interested persons to attend the July 17, 2001 Town Board meeting. Paul Rasmussen seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Ordinance Number 72/Penalty For Misdemeanor Nancy Madden made a motion to adopt and sign Ordinance Number 72, an Ordinance increasing the penalty for misdemeanor violations of township ordinances. John Martineau seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Restore Siens/Welcome to Scandia Nancy Madden made a motion to restore the Welcome to Scandia signs on Highway 97 and not to exceed $500.00. Michael Hinz seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Citizens Communications Buried Cable Paul Rasmussen made a motion to approve the buried telephone cable for Citizens Communications on Kirk Avenue, Quinnell Avenue, Quint Avenue, 22855 eadowbrook,12624 182"d Street and 21835 Parrish Road. John Martineau seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Michael Hinz made a motion to approve underground electric for 14075 237th Street and install overhead line on 236th Street and 370 feet of underground primary to serve 23800 Novak Avenue. John Martineau seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Page 3 Citizens Communications Nancy Madden made a motion to approve buried telephone cable for Citizens Communications along 182 nd Street and Norell and 22267 Nolan Avenue to Junction Of 230th Street. Paul Rasmussen seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously. Crack Sealing Michael Hinz made a motion to approve bituminous street crack sealing on the following areas in the township: Bliss Addition, Mayberry -Manning to Lofton, 205 th Street -Mayberry to Olinda, Parkview Avenue, Parkview Lane and 1901h Street and not to exceed $5,000.00.
