On the above date the New Scandia Township reconvened Annual Meeting was held.
The Clerk called the meeting to order and Bruce Swenson was elected Moderator. The
following Board Members were also present: Chairman, Dennis Seefeldt, Vice
Chairman, Paul Rasmussen, Michael Hinz, Nancy Madden and John Martineau.
The following Levy for the Year of 2002 was presented by the Clerk:

Kevin Nickelson asked what the levy was for 2001 and he was informed the amount was
$1, 059,272.00. He was informed the Capital Projects were funded by reserves last year.
The following items would be funded by the Capital Projects: (1) New Roof for the Old
Fire Hall:- (2) Septic System for the Old Fire Hall.
The residents were informed the levy did not increase a sufficient amount as last year the
township received approximately $185,000.00 from local government funding.
Robert Bohrer made a motion to approve the levy for the year of 2002 in the amount of
$1,251,412.00. Motion seconded and motion approved.
Kevin Nickelson requested the Town Board to revisit the issue of the township keeping
the Maintenance Building and the Old Fire Hall Building. Mr. Nickelson expressed his
concern regarding some of the storage and also a concern about the danger of the loft
built in the Maintenance Garage. Mr. Nickelson requested the Town Board to take a tour
of the two buildings and reconsider the board's decision on this issue. Mr. Nickelson was
informed that a group of residents had attended a meeting requesting that the town keep
both buildings and the Town Board voted unanimous not to sell either building.
