On the above date New Scandia Planning Commission held their regular monthly meeting. The
following New Scandia Town Board members were also in attendance: Vice Chairman Michael
Hinz, Lisa Crum, Blair Joselyn and Nancy Madden. Chairman Dennis Seefeldt was absent.
William Hayes -Variance
Planning Commission recommends to the Town Board to grant the variance for William Hayes,
14677 Morgan Avenue North, Marine, MN 55047. Lots 1,2,3, and 4, Block 2 of Bliss Plat First
Division. A variance from Lot Size 2.5 acres to .804 acres and buildable land requirements of
one acre be approved on the grounds that the plight of the applicant is due to circumstances
unique to property and that granting the variance will not alter the essential character of the
locality. Conditions are 1) the four lots are combined under one tax identification number, 2)
Washington County approves the septic system and two drainfield areas, 3) a permit be obtained
from the Carnelian -Marine Watershed District, 4) that all setbacks be honored, 5) the height of
the structure not exceed 35 feet, and 6) impervious surfaces do not exceed 25% of lot coverage.
Findings are granting the variance will not negatively impact the neighborhood and proposed
construction makes good use of the parcel of land.
Nancy Madden made a motion to approve the Planning Commission recommendations for
William Hayes. Lisa Crum seconded the motion and motion adopted unanimously.
