A special meeting of the Scandia City Council was held on the above date. Mayor Dennis Seefeldt
called the meeting to order at 6:03 p.m. The following were present: Councilmembers Pete Crum, ,
Dolores Peterson, Donnette Yehle, Mayor Dennis Seefeldt. Councilmember Mike Harnetty was
absent. Staff present: Administrator Anne Hurlburt. The purpose of the meeting was to interview
candidates for various city commissions and committees.
The Council reviewed the draft list of interview questions and selected those to be asked of each
applicant. Ten minute interviews were conducted with the following committee applicants:
Annette Gilbertson Commercial/Retail Development Committee
Christine Maefsky Planning Comm./Comp. Plan Committee
Bruce Swenson Commercial/Retail Development Committee &
Capital Improvements Committee
Candidate Lisa Schlingerman was invited but was not able to attend the interview.
The Council discussed the candidates and reviewed the draft resolution prepared for consideration
at the February 20, 2007 regular meeting, listing appointments and leaving some blanks for the
Council to fill during discussion at the meeting. By consensus, the draft resolution was revised as
follows: Christine Maefsky to be appointed to the Planning Commission for a term ending in 2012,
Chris Ness to be appointed the Planning Commission for a term ending in 2012; Mike White to be
appointed to the Comprehensive Plan Committee; Bruce Swenson and Annette Gilbertson to be
appointed to the Commercial/ Retail Development Committee; and Alex Bildeaux to be appointed
as a citizen-at-large to the Ice Rink Committee.
Councilmember Yehle indicated that she would talk to another potential candidate for the Capital
Improvements Committee.
Training for Planning Commissioners was discussed. Administrator Hurlburt indicated that the
Government Training Service workshops were coming up. The Council directed that this
information be provided to the Commission and that the city pay registration fees for those who are
able to attend.

The Council directed that all Committee appointees be invited to a meeting on March 13. The
agenda for the meeting will include a general overview of the committees and their responsibilities,
information about the open meeting law, and a video on preserving community character.
The meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
