Lilleskogen Park — The 2019 Capital Budget as proposed includes $10,000 for wetland restoration at
Lilleskogen Park. Bolton & Menk, the City's engineers, identified an opportunity to leverage those funds
through the MnDNR's Conservation Partners Legacy Grant Program. The DNR manages the CPL program
to provide competitive matching grants from $5,000 up to $400,000 to local, regional, state, and national
non-profit organizations and government entities. Grants must restore, protect or enhance prairies,
wetlands, forests, or habitat for fish, game, or wildlife in Minnesota. A 10% match of non -state funds is
required for all grants. Bolton & Menk submitted a grant request by the September 17 deadline that
seeking a grant of $99,300 to implement a projects identified in the Lilleskogen Park plan.
Big Marine Park Reserve — The City has complete the transfer of Big Marine Estates Outlot 1 on Margo
Ave. to Washington County for inclusion into the Big Marine Park Reserve.
Gateway Trail —The City Council has approved an agreement with the DNR to provide for preparation of
the conceptual, preliminary and final design, engineering, construction plans, construction specifications
for the development of the Scandia Segment of the Trail and the proposed Scandia Trailhead for the
Gateway Trail under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer. The agreement provide for
reimbursement funding of up to $100,000 for the City to engage the City Engineer to complete the work
by September 30, 2019. MnDNR staff s working on the design for the tunnel under Oakhill Road, the
segment from Oakhill to William O'Brien State Park, and within the park.
