5.i Approving the 2017 Pay Equity Report
Staff Report
Date of Meeting: October 16, 2018
To: City Council
From: Neil Soltis, City Administrator
Re: 2017 Pay Equity Report
Background:
Every three years all local governments are required to file a pay equity report with the state.
The last report for 2014 was approved January 2015. The 2017 report has been submitted for
review and has been determined by the State Pay Equity Coordinator at Minnesota
Management and Budget to be technically in compliance; however the points should be
proportionate to salaries and with a 2 point difference between the maintenance worker and
the deputy clerk this can be a potential inequity. This potential inequity has been addressed in
Resolution 10-16-18-04 by modifying the step schedule so that the pay range for the Deputy
Clerk position is equal to the pay range for the Maintenance workers as was the condition when
the step schedule was approved in 2013.
Issue:
Are any changes needed to the pay equity report before it is submitted to the state?
Proposal Details:
The Pay Equity Implementation Form and the jobs summary for all positions in 2017 follow this
report. The deadline for filing the report has been extended by the State to October 31, 2018
Options:
1) Approve the Pay Equity Report
2) Amend and then Approve the Pay Equity Report
3) Do not Approve the Pay Equity Report
