outdoor recreation, and entertainment. The
activities on the inner part of the wheel shown in
Figure 2 are considered core, and those on the
outer part are considered peripheral. As the wheel
illustrates, activities may fall into multiple
categories. For example, farm -to -table dinners and
tastings span three categories: direct sales,
education, and hospitality.
Conclusions
The term "agritourism" is understood in different
ways throughout the U.S. and the world. This can
create confusion and conflict with respect to
communication, measurement, policy, and
programs that support this emerging industry.
While operational definitions may be applied to
specific situations, there is a need for a common
