Re: SRC Contract 2019-2021
Background:
In March of 2001 New Scandia Township entered into a contract for collecting and disposing of
recyclable materials. The agreement has been extended every year. In May of 2012 the
Council updated the contract with SRC, and twice extended it for one year increments. In 2014
the Council approved a contract for 2015 – 2018 that better aligned with the Washington
County scorecard used to determine eligibility for a recycling grant. The current contract
contains a provision that the contract can be extended for a 1 year period. SRC is will to extend
the current contract for 1 year with no change in the cost
Issue:
Should the Council approve the new contract with SRC for recycling services?
Proposal Details:
A copy of the current contract follows this report.
Fiscal Impact:
The new contract maintains the same monthly rate as the previous contracts ($27,846 / year).
Grant revenue from Washington County helps offset a portion of this expense ($7,952, or about
28 %). The remaining cost is covered by the General Fund.
Options:
1) Extend the contract with SRC.
2) Amend the Contract and then Approve
3) Issue an RFP for recycling services
Recommendation:
Option 1.
