Re: Request to Amend Meister’s Bar and Grill Authorization to Sell Liquor During
Vinterfest, January 26, 2019
Background:
State statute allows the City Council to authorize holders of a retail on-sale liquor license to sell alcohol
at a community festival or at any convention, banquet, conference, meeting or social affair conducted
on the premises of a sports, convention or cultural facility owned by the City. Meister’s Bar and Grill
applied for a temporary off-premises sales liquor license to sell beer and liquor during
Vinterfest on Saturday, January 26, 2019, from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. and the City Council approved
the application at its December 18, 2018 meeting.
Since approving the application, Staff has been contacted by Corey Roberts (organizer of the
Minnesotan Cup) with a request to extend the Minnesota Cup by starting the tournament on
Friday, January 25, 2019.
Issue:
Should the City Council approve the amended application from Meister’s Bar and Grill to sell
alcohol during the Minnesotan Cup on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. in
addition to Saturday, January 26, 2019?
Options:
1) Approve the request for Meister’s Bar and Grill to begin sales on Friday, January 25,
2019.
2) Do not approve the request.
Recommendation:
Option 1
